How long does a renovation project take?

Renovation project timelines vary widely based on size.  A full house remodel may take 6-12 months while a kitchen remodel may be 6 weeks.  Give us a call to discuss the scope of your project!

A typical master bath remodel takes 6 to 8 weeks on site. A hall bath can be done in 3 weeks or so. Kitchens can take 4 to 8 weeks.

If you are adding on to the home as part of the project expect just the addition to take 6 to 8 weeks on top of the remodeling time.

But that is just the on site work. You also want to budget for planning and design as well as the time it takes to order materials. We order all you materials prior to the job start to avoid any unnecessary delays due to shipping errors or damage. This typically takes 8 weeks.

All in all you should start planning about 3 months before you would like the project to start.

You can read more about the process on our Process Page.

Do you provide design for my renovation/ remodel or do I need to start by working with an architect?

Hunnicutt Construction LLC is a Design-Build firm, which means we handle everything from start to finish!  For small- to mid-sized projects we handle design in-house, and we partner with leading architecture firms for large projects.  If you already have plans we can work with those, but it is best for us to work with you from the beginning of design to ensure we have everything you need and that the home will be designed to meet your budget goals.

How much does a typical Project cost?

Our average kitchen project cost in 2023 is around $85,000. Our average master bath cost has been $65,000. Hall bathrooms start at around $40,000.

Do I need to move out of my house during the remodeling?

Not necessarily, although renovations can get messy and noisy.  Many of our clients choose to live in their home during remodeling, especially if your project is a specific area of your home like kitchens, bathrooms, or basements where the mess can be segmented away from your living space. Our clients find that our team of professional tradesmen are very courteous, but keep in mind that if your project is extensive, it may become more practical for you to temporarily move out. We will discuss your specific situation prior to scheduling your project and go from there.

How does renovation/ remodel process work when I’m ready to get started?

Contact us to set up a consultation to discuss your project.  We will explain our process and tailor a Design Agreement to meet your needs.

What areas of Houston do you serve?

We mainly service Houston’s close-in communities such as West U, Bellaire, Boulevard Oaks, South Hampton, Southgate, Rice University, Memorial, Meyerland, the Heights, Montrose, and River Oaks. Depending on the project and our availability we may take on projects outside of these areas. If we don’t serve an area we may be able to recommend a quality builder near you.

Can I provide my own materials?

We cannot warranty anything that we do not provide or install, so we require that we handle all material purchases.

Do you provide free estimates?

Instead of providing a traditional “free estimate”, we partner with you during our Design Agreement process to establish a realistic project budget and then design accordingly.  We charge a fee for this agreement.

What if I just need a simple update?

There are several ways to update your kitchen or bathroom:

Simple cosmetic updates

If that is what you are looking for give us a call and we can refer you to one of our trade partners who can help you.

Pull and Replace Updates

A "pull and replace update" keeps the same layout but updates cabinets and counters. We have options for this type of update that can suit almost any budget.

Custom Remodel

Moving walls, plumbing, etc... to truly customize your home for your needs. We have interior designers on staff who can help you customize your home.
